We welcome you to walk through Melody Street in order to learn, have fun, experience and explore! In doing so, we want to ensure that you are always safe when you walk through the neighborhood.
The following Privacy Policy reflects our commitment to safeguarding any personal information that may be collected through our website and our assurance that this website complies with applicable data privacy laws and any other applicable legislation.
We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy at our sole discretion. We will inform you of any such change by us posting a new privacy policy right here and the effective date of any change of privacy policy will be clearly marked.
What Information Do We Collect?
The Melody Street site can be used by anyone and does not require user registration. If you are under 13, we encourage you to share your intended participation with your guardian and seek their approval.
There are several areas on the site that collect certain user information, which will only be used for the purposes set forth below.
The first is through the “Tune Maker”. This application allows our users to compose their own tunes through compilation of provided tones. Providing certain information is not required to create a unique tune, but if our users want to save their tune or email it to a friend, there is certain information they need to provide. For saving the tune, we ask the user to set up a username and password. While this information, along with the saved tune, will be saved in our site, it does not include any personally identifiable information of the submitting user; but rather grants the user a unique identity on our site through which any saved information is retrievable. In addition, the Tune Maker also allows the user to send the saved tune to an email address (whether for themselves, to show their parents, or show off to friends). We do not ask for the relationship between the sender and the sendee, but do collect the email address provided in order to send out the tune. In addition, we may use the indirect information gathered through the email address in order to find out things like, for example, how many people are using the application or where they are geographically located.
Another area of the site that collects an email address is our Gallery section which allows you to share your thoughts, videos and other possible content with us or other users. In order to submit such content, parents will be asked to provide their email information. The email address collected will be used to identify you with the content you have uploaded and to allow us to contact you in this regard as needed.
In addition, we may used the email information collected to notify you of our future offerings or new features which you may find interesting.
Anyone say “Cookie”?
A cookie is a small piece of text stored on a user’s computer by a web browser (like Internet Explorer, Chrome or Firefox). When you visit our site, we may passively collect certain non-personally identifiable computer information through these cookies, such as your IP Address, type of computer operating system, web browser, frequency you visit us and where you go on our site when you do. This information is very valuable to our business and allows us to help you make your online experience smoother. You can choose to turn off your computer’s ability to send out cookies or to have you computer warn you when such information is sent out through the settings of your browser; however, keep in mind that if you turn off this function, some of our services might not function properly and your online experience may be bumpier than usual.
And What About Third Parties?
We do not forward any of the information we collect to third parties as a general rule. We do not allow third-parties to solicit or advertise to our users. However, keep in mind that there may be instances in which we may disclose certain information where required to do so by law (through a court order or subpoena). To the extent permitted by applicable law, we also may disclose information if such disclosure may prevent a crime, assist in public safety or protect the safety of a child using our website or protect the security or integrity of our website. We might also transfer information to a third party if we sell all or part of our business or make a sale or transfer of our assets or are otherwise involved in a merger or business transfer, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
